The Flowers: Floral Décor Tips

date posted: February 21, 2025

Flowers breathe love and joy into a room, and there are all kinds of ways to work them into your wedding. Wear them, carry them, fashion them into an arch to shelter you as you speak your vows, or use them to spread pops of color throughout your surroundings. Here are some tips for deploying and enjoying this timeless symbol of fertility and new beginnings:

• Consider working with a flower farm. You’ll get the very freshest local blooms, and there’s nothing flower farmers love more than helping a happy couple. Most are also floral designers who can do anything from crafting a glorious bouquet to decking out a venue.

• Don’t forget the greenery! Ferns, ivy, or evergreen boughs can stand alone or make a beautiful backdrop or frame for a floral arrangement, especially contrasted with the bold colors that are the flower fashion of 2025.

• An arrangement bringing together flowers, greenery, and some fresh, colorful fruits and or veggies can make a lovely centerpiece or be the perfect enhancement for a food station.

• Pots or sheaves of ornamental grass go beautifully with a rustic theme.

• Consider a wildflower bouquet and wildflower nosegays for your attendants. Not only are wildflowers gorgeous, they’re untamed, resilient survivors— talk about some next-level symbolism!

• Instead of the dated “bouquet toss” custom, why not gift each guest or each table with a bloom from your bouquet as you table-hop?

• Definitely repurpose the ceremony flowers at the reception, and maybe consider arranging for the floral décor to go to an elder living facility or something similar after the party, where they can brighten still more lives. Talk to your floral artist or flower farmer about this and other sustainability measures.

Most flower farmers are also floral designers who can do anything from crafting a glorious bouquet to decking out a venue.

• Dried flowers are gorgeous and can be reused if handled gently.

• Don’t be afraid to go big and bold with your blossoms! How about a floral sculpture in a spot conducive to selfies?

• Bud vases with single blossoms on dinner tables add a touch of loveliness without blocking conversations as a bulky centerpiece might.

• Consider a monochromatic flower palette—think reds, oranges, blues, or golds—in which the variety is created by shades and shapes to pull your entire reception look together.
