ROMANTIC FLORAL

date posted: March 13, 2020

Flowers and greenery are romantic and elegant in all of their many forms, symbols of a fresh beginning. And there are countless ways to work them into your wedding day backdrop and style, both beyond and within a single bouquet.

As dècor

• Warm weather wedding? Pick a venue, whether it’s a mansion, backyard, or hotel, with a garden you love, a field, or a meadow with diverse, wild blooms. Honeysuckle, rose of Sharon, Queen Anne’s lace, and any number of other wildflowers have a wild loveliness all their own. Perhaps a procession down a mowed path through a field of wildflowers aflutter with butterflies?

• Trees, with the abundant shade and natural splendor they provide. Collaborate with towering oaks, bushy evergreens, dogwoods, lilacs, and our other gorgeous friends. Orchard backdrop during blossom season? Fiery maple in autumn?

• Inside and outside your venue, use potted plants, flowers, and trees to shape a look in harmony with nature.

• Don’t forget silky ornamental grasses.

• Driftwood and stone can play beautifully with florals and greenery.

• Garlands of blossoms or greenery can be draped in all kinds of ways.

• Flowers and greenery can be repurposed and rearranged to do double duty for both ceremony and reception.

your look

• Big news in 2020: Monochromatic bouquets featuring multiple shades of one basic color are gaining popularity. Bleached greenery. Big, bold, bright notes in bouquets. Organic shapes.

• For you or for the wedding party: floral jewelry and hairpieces, either instead of or in addition to the bouquet you carry.

• Seasonal and native blooms for a sustainable statement.

• Custom bouquets. Here’s where you can have fun with that flower-symbolism stuff. Write the meanings on a pretty scroll to give to whoever catches your bouquet.

• Jeweled pins, pretty trinkets, brooches, crystals, lace, feathers, a silk butterfly. Make it you!

• A bouquet can conceal a GoPro for a truly unique video of your ceremony.
