Floral Decor

date posted: February 29, 2024

Flowers by Petal Creek Farm.

Flowers come in so many colors, shapes, and sizes that you’re sure to find something that fits your vision.

What could make finer wedding decor than flowers, those vivid reminders of Nature’s own love story? They come in so many colors, shapes, and sizes that you’re sure to find something that fits your vision, whether you’re going for dignified formal, lush romantic, sunshiny exuberant, countryside casual, or post-post-neo-modern. So here are some ideas for incorporating floral and natural elements into your decor without breaking the bank:

Flowers by The Dancing Tulip

• Do your research. Whether you’re hiring a florist or planning to DIY, make time to visit flower shops and flower farms and browse the floral internet. You’ll get invaluable insight into the available choices and the art of arranging them.

Flowers by Famous Meadow.

• Go seasonal: Blooms that are local and in season are better for your budget and better for the planet. A florist will know which ones these are, and can make suggestions if you give them a general color palette to work with.

Flowers by Adams Fairacre Farms.

• Au naturel: The ultimate eco-friendly DIY is, of course, a garden or meadow wedding in late spring or early summer. Even with this in your favor, you may want a bouquet, a boutonniere, an arrangement at the ceremonial spot, and perhaps some centerpieces.

• Floral arrangements make a wonderful display at the doorways of your ceremony and reception spaces, with their beauty and fragrance welcoming guests into the special world of your wedding.

Flowers by The Curated Wild.

• Sometimes less is more. A perfect bud vase is all you need in the powder room; depending on your taste, it may be all you need on each reception table. If you decide to go with more elaborate floral centerpieces, make sure table-mates can still see one another and chat comfortably.

• Ceremony flowers: Choose ones that can be repurposed at the reception venue. If you want some at the end of each aisle of seating, for example, these can be gathered into a mass for use around the head table and at the bar, or wherever you like.

Flowers by Farmhouse Floral Design.

• Reuse: Consider the possibilities of potted plants and flowers or even trees that you can take home and nurture in your house or yard.

Flowers by Meadowscent.

• Go fake: Silk flowers are less expensive than real blooms, and can make a lovely archway garland—or hairpiece if you want something that won’t wilt even a little as you dance the night away.

Flowers by Petals & Moss.

• Your bouquet: It can be as splashy and massive or delicate and discreet as you want, but keep in mind that the bouquet—along with whatever flowers the two of you and your attendants will be carrying or wearing—will be in a great many of your photos. You’ll want blooms that stand out and hold up well.

Flowers by Peony Design Studio.

• Greenery and decorative grasses, with and without flowers, add lovely, lush accents to any style of decor.
